    How we process personal data on the website and in relation to the shop.

    1. Controller

    2. Scope

    This policy covers chateau-des-platanes.com (public website: browsing, contact form, newsletter if and when available) and shop.chateau-des-platanes.com (orders, payments, shipping and transactional emails).

    3. Data we process

    • Technical logs (IP, timestamp, requested pages, browser/device data) for security and troubleshooting.
    • Language preference in functional browser storage after you choose a language.
    • Contact form data (name, email, message). Contact messages are not stored in a database; they are received and archived in our email inbox for 12 months.
    • Newsletter data (if and when available): email, language, subscription timestamp, unsubscribe and suppression-list records.
    • Shop order data (name, address, email, phone when needed, products, prices). Card details are processed by Stripe and not stored in full on our servers.

    4. Legal bases (GDPR)

    • Art. 6(1)(b): contract performance (orders, delivery, customer support).
    • Art. 6(1)(c): legal obligations (accounting and tax retention).
    • Art. 6(1)(f): legitimate interests (secure operation and functional storage).
    • Art. 6(1)(a): consent (newsletter marketing, when available).

    5. Service providers

    • Website hosting: Vercel.
    • VPS and app data: Hostinger (VPS location: Netherlands).
    • Email sending (transactional/newsletter): Resend (region eu-west-1).
    • Payments: Stripe.
    • Shipping management: MBE Online / MBE France.
    • Carrier: UPS.
    • Webmaster tools: Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools.

    6. International transfers

    Some providers are located outside the EEA (for example in the United States). Where applicable, transfers are protected using appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

    Resend states that customer data is stored in the US and contractual safeguards are used via its DPA. Transfers to the United Kingdom may occur in delivery/support contexts; the UK currently has an EU adequacy decision.

    7. Cookies and browser storage

    We do not use third-party marketing cookies on the main website.

    • Cookie: sidebar:state (UI state, 7 days).
    • LocalStorage: preferredLanguage, preferredLanguageName.
    • LocalStorage (newsletter prompt state): newsletterPopupSubscribed,newsletterPopupSnoozeUntil, newsletterPopupEligibleAt,legacyNewsletterPopupShown.
    • SessionStorage: hasSeenLogoAnimation.

    In the shop, functional storage/cookies are used for cart, session and language during checkout.

    8. Retention

    • Contact form messages: 12 months in mailbox archives unless longer legal retention applies.
    • Newsletter data: as long as needed for newsletter operations, including suppression list entries.
    • Orders and invoices: according to applicable accounting and tax laws.

    9. Your rights

    You may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, object to processing, and withdraw newsletter consent at any time. You may lodge a complaint with the CNIL.
